Montreal Lake Cree Nation signed an adhesion to Treaty No. 6 with her Majesty on February 11, 1889. There are three (3) sectors that make up Montreal Lake Cree Nation as follows.

Off-Reserve Sector
The total population of Montreal Lake Cree Nation is 4,170 as of November 2020, and of that, 2,627 or 47% comprise the off-reserve population.
